On Feb. 3 the University Interscholastic League released the reclassification and realignment of football and basketball teams for 2014-2016. This created a new 6A conference for schools with 2,100 or more students.
Pearce football and basketball teams will now compete in Region 2, District 10 of 6A. The other schools that will also compete in this district are Highland Park, Mesquite, Mesquite Horn, North Mesquite, Richardson, Berkner and Lake Highlands.
This will mean a return to play against Highland Park, which was a rival when Pearce athletics competed in the 4A conference, as well as a continuation of games against all Richardson ISD schools.
Until Feb. 13, any school that has interest in changing districts has the ability to change by receiving a unanimous vote from its current district and the new district in order to approve the change.
The UIL announced all football games for the upcoming season will begin with these new districts on Aug. 28-30.
