Across the district, schools are expected to enforce their own recycling plan in order to encourage environmental responsibility. Lack of recycling bins discourages recycling, though other methods save large amounts of money for the district.

Elimination of choice in schedules limits freedom for seniors
A new policy that affects the graduating class of 2015 deprives seniors of the opportunity to choose their teachers and class periods. This limits the amount of time administrators must spend creating schedules, but it also limits the freedom seniors have traditionally been afforded at Pearce.
‘Beauty and the Beast’ impresses audiences
“Beauty and the Beast,” starring Mollie Meril and Sam Snyder, was performed to perfection. All aspects of the play, including the acting, singing, sets and music, were outstanding.
Varsity baseball team plays well in early part of season
After going 8-4-1 in non-district play, the varsity baseball team began district play well winning three out of four games. With strong wins against Richardson and Skyline, the team will push for a playoff berth and district championship.
English teachers attempt to improve STAAR test scores
English teachers are aiming to boost students’ STAAR English I Writing test scores for the 2013-2014 school year from the meager passing rates last year. The curriculum has been altered to directly focus on the EOC test.
Students pick high GPAs vs. regular classes
Students choose between AP and regular classes throughout high school in an attempt to find balanced coursework that they can handle. It is important to select classes that will benefit the student most for college.
Pearce students perform well in Chamber Music Festival
Over 100 band students from Pearce participated in the Chamber Music Festival. Students are rated on a scale of three to one, with one being the highest possible score.
Academic Decathlon competes at state meet
The Academic Decathlon team has advanced past the regional division and has moved on to the state level. Some members were hopeful, while others doubted that they had the dedication to succeed.
Garage band Oath of Chaos to perform at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas
Oath of Chaos is a metal band whose members currently attend Pearce. After a year apart, the band has gotten back together and will be performing on April 6 at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas.
‘Yeezus’ stands out among 2013 rap albums
Several rap albums from 2013 deserve attention; however, out of the top 10, “Yeezus” stands unparalleled. Other rap albums, such as Childish Gambino’s “Because the Internet,” also stand out.
