Following the cancellation of the Oct. 4 meet at Norbuck Park, the cross country season is more than halfway through with its season.
There are two more meets until the regional meet in Grand Prairie.
“So far we’ve had a great season with everyone working hard at practice and at the meets,” junior Cameron Weir said. “Coach Larimer and Coach Inch push us every day to be the best we can be.”
The cross country team has competed in cities such as San Antonio, Dallas, Frisco, The Colony and McKinney.
“So far, my favorite meet was the San Antonio meet,” captain Eston White said. “It’s always fun to go to a whole new area to run. It’s kind of like an adventure. Plus, we get to miss a day of school.”
“All the girls have been doing really well this season, and I think we have a chance of a lot of them going on to regionals,” captain Morgan Forteith said. “Every girl brings something different to the team, and that’s what makes us good.”
The entire team has been training mainly for the district meet on Oct. 21 in Frisco. This meet is important to senior runners because it’s potentially their last meet of their high school career.
“Realizing that my last meet is in a few weeks makes me think about all the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my running,” Eston said. “But, I’m also hopeful and anxious of what the future will hold for me, whether I run or not.”
