Gracie Baergen is the current captain of the Pearce varsity girls golf team for the 2014-2015 golf season and in her third year on the varsity team. Gracie was the number one player for the Pearce Mustangs last year and led the team to a District 9-5A team championship.
“I love golf,” Gracie said. “It’s not always just about practice and tournaments. Our team is actually really close, and we are practically a family.”
For Gracie, golf is a lifestyle and a way to let loose and have fun with her team members.
She enjoys every second of playing golf, and everyone can tell that the team respects their talented captain.
“Gracie is an amazing captain and an even better person,” senior golf player Jansen Rees said. “Everyone loves being around her.”
She loves being on the course and takes advantage of every moment she can spend on it.
Her friends and family enjoy seeing her play.
“I was the lowest scorer last year for the team,” Gracie said. “I hope that I will continue that trend for this year. It can be a lot of pressure, but performing well is worth all of the long hours practicing.”
Gracie has always been competitive, and playing golf enhances her drive.
“I placed second individually last year at district, so I’m trying to win first place this year,” Gracie said.
Win or lose, Gracie always keeps her head high and is always respectful toward other players.
Gracie enjoys many hobbies other than golf, such as music and reading, but golf remains her highest priority. She loves going to concerts whenever possible.
“The more friends I go with, the better,” Gracie said.
Gracie’s picture is everywhere around Pearce as students continue to go see her play and hear about her success.
