The J.J Pearce wrestling team had two athletes make state. Bella Burnworth became the first freshman to make state and Aaron Goldman became the highest state placer in Pearce’s history.
This year for the boys varsity soccer team will be one for the books. The team is looking very strong and confident in the upcoming soccer season. They will have a handful of returning seniors to the varsity squad, along with a few seniors making their debut season and some freshmen and sophomores.
MC Salas, a teacher and volleyball coach at Pearce, was a volleyball player throughout high school and college. She discovered that teaching was a way she could stay involved in volleyball past college.
Though the varsity softball team didn’t do so well at their scrimmages, they learned from their mistakes and went on to win both their tournaments and their first district game against Richardson. In their annual Kaitlin Seidel tournament, they won the first four games and only tied the fifth because they ran out of time.
The Mustang wrestling team had wrestlers qualify for the regional and state wrestling tournaments. They had two placers at state this year, which showed the team that the hard work they put in does pay off.
The basketball team had a tough season against tough competition. Players felt like they were competitive in every game but a few plays in some critical games kept the team out of the playoffs.
The track team has had many coaching changes leading up to this season. However, the new staff has started the team off early in hopes that extra preparation will help the team to succeed as the season goes on.
High school students who want to play sports have two basic choices. Some people say club sports is the better options, but others say school-sponsored sports are the way to go. A individual’s choice may depend on the benefits he sees from each.
The football team had the same losing record as last year, However, the team seemed to keep games closer. The change in coaches has had a positive impact on the team and has made the team believe that they can win.
The varsity volleyball team has put in a lot of work into this year’s season and have won 15 games so far this year. They had to be one of the top four teams to be able to go to district.
